Physical Education
Oakbridge Primary School’s vision is underpinned by ‘Growing Compassionate and Courageous Learners; Building Successful Futures’. We believe that Physical Education plays a vital role in helping us realise this vision. Through high-quality PE, sport and physical activity, we aim to develop not only children’s physical competence, but also their confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership and respect for others.
Our vision is for every child to enjoy participating in physical activity—whether in PE lessons, active lunchtimes, after-school clubs, festivals, competitions and tournaments, or through leadership opportunities. We strive to provide inclusive experiences that enable all children to succeed, challenge themselves and discover activities they enjoy. By fostering positive attitudes towards health, wellbeing and physical activity, we aim to inspire children to lead active, healthy lives and develop a lifelong love of movement and sport.
Sports Premium Funding
The Government provides Sports Premium Funding to all schools comprising of a £16,000 lump sum and £10 per pupil in Years 1 – 6. The premium must be spent by schools on making additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of all pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.
Participation in a range of sports and enjoying physical activity is very important to us.
At Oakbridge, we utilise the funding to five areas:
- The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity
- The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school
- Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff teaching PE and sport
- Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
- Increased participation in competitive sport
Sport at Oakbridge includes PE lessons, active playtimes, clubs and competitions. For details of our PE curriculum, click here.
