EYFS

At Oakbridge CofE Primary School, we provide a rigorous and aspirational knowledge-based curriculum, based on Development Matters and rooted in Christian values, which promotes compassion and excellent outcomes for every child.

The curriculum offers progressive and sequential cycles of learning brought to life by a rich variety of wider experiences that put learning into local context.

Reading is at the heart of everything we do, woven through every subject, with a strong foundation of Little Wandle phonics and a reading spine of high quality, diverse texts to promote a love of reading for all.

A comprehensive and ambitious PSHE programme embeds our core values, promotes equality and diversity and shows our children how to keep themselves safe. Our children will be encouraged to be aspirational, kind, resilient, brave and good citizens. 

 

Characteristics of Effective Learning 

 

Playing and exploring – engagement: Finding out and exploring. Playing with what they know, being willing to have a go.  

Active learning – motivation: Being involved and concentrating, keeping trying, enjoying achieving what they set out to do.  

Creating and thinking critically – thinking: Having their own ideas, making links, choosing to do things.

Positive Relationships: Children flourish with warm, strong & positive partnerships between all staff and parents/carers. This promotes independence across the EYFS curriculum.  

Enabling environments: Children learn and develop well in safe and secure environments where routines are established and where adults respond to their individual needs and passions and help them to build upon their learning over time.

Our curriculum has been carefully constructed to combine key knowledge in the prime and specific areas of the EYFS framework with knowledge our children will need to access and succeed in Year 1 and beyond.
